Unified universal seesaw models.

چکیده
A set of Grand Unified Theories based upon the gauge groups SU(5)L × SU(5)R, SO(10)L×SO(10)R and SU(4)C×SU(4)L×SU(4)R is explored. Several novel features distinguish these theories from the well-known SU(5), SO(10) and SU(4)C×SU(2)L×SU(2)R models which they generalize. Firstly, Standard Model quarks and leptons are accompanied by and mix with heavy SU(2)L × SU(2)R singlet partners. The resulting fermion mass matrices are seesaw in form. Discrete parity symmetries render the determinants of these mass matrices real and eliminate CP violating gauge terms. The unified seesaw models consequently provide a possible resolution to the strong CP problem. Secondly, sin θW at the unification scale is numerically smaller than the experimentally measured Z scale value. The weak angle must therefore increase as it evolves down in energy. Finally, proton decay is suppressed by small seesaw mixing factors in all these theories. 4/93 ∗ Work supported in part by the U.S. Dept. of Energy under Contract no. DEAC-03-81ER40050.

Evolution of a Universal Seesaw Mass Matrix
Stimulated by a universal seesaw mass matrix model which can successfully give quark masses and CKM matrix elements in terms of charged lepton masses, the evolution of the seesaw mass matrices is investigated. Especially, an energy scale at which the parameters characterizing between quark and lepton mass matrices are unified is evaluated. PACS: 12.15.Ff, 11.10.Hi, 12.60.-i
متن کاملSingle and Double Universal Seesaw Mechanisms with Universal Strength for Yukawa Couplings
Single and double universal seesaw mechanisms and the hypothesis of universal strength for Yukawa couplings are applied to formulate a unified theory of fermion mass spectrum in a model based on an extended Pati-Salam symmetry. Five kinds of Higgs fields are postulated to mediate scalar interactions among electroweak doublets of light fermions and electroweak singlets of heavy exotic fermions w...
متن کاملHigh energy seesaw models, GUTs and Leptogenesis
I review high energy (type I) seesaw models and in particular how they can be nicely embedded within grand-unified models and reproduce the observed matter-antimatter asymmetry with leptogenesis. I also discuss how high energy (type I) seesaw models can provide a candidate for very heavy cold dark matter, within the TeV-EeV range, whose decays might explain part of the IceCube high energy neutr...
متن کاملSO(10)×SO(10) Universal Seesaw Model and its Intermediate Mass Scales
On the basis of the universal seesaw mass matrix model, which is a promising model of the unified description of the quark and lepton mass matrices, the behaviors of the gauge coupling constants and intermediate energy scales in the SO(10)L × SO(10)R model are investigated related to the neutrino mass generation scenarios. The non-SUSY model cannot give favorable values of the intermediate ener...
متن کاملSeesaw Neutrino Mass Ratios with Radiative Corrections
Unlike neutrino masses, the ratios of neutrino masses can be predicted by up-quark seesaw models using the known quark masses and including radiative corrections, with some restrictive assumptions. The uncertainties in these ratios can be reduced to three: the type of seesaw (quadratic, linear, etc.), the top quark mass, and the Landau-triviality value of the top quark mass. The inconclusive bu...
